Theodore J. Baker
Ted Baker is a seasoned trial attorney with 20 years’ experience handling a variety of complex and sensitive legal matters. His practice focuses on issues involving the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP), formerly known as DYFS, adoptions, kinship legal guardianships, criminal defense, and personal injury.
Ted has represented countless individuals in litigation pertaining to abuse and neglect of children, termination of parental rights, grandparents’ rights, and administrative matters. He has also successfully represented clients in a wide array of criminal matters, from homicide to municipal offenses, including child endangerment matters. He brings compassion, dedication, and zealous advocacy to every case he handles.
Ted earned his B.A. in politics from Saint Joseph’s University and his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law. He is Of Counsel to Weinberg, Kaplan & Smith, P.A. in Marlton, New Jersey, and is licensed to practice in New Jersey, Vermont, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has lectured for the New Jersey State and Camden County Bar Associations and has offered presentations to the Inns of Court and other local private organizations.
Prior to entering private practice, Ted served as Deputy Attorney General representing DCPP (then, DYFS). He appeared in thousands of cases on behalf of the State. Ted brings this invaluable experience to his practice today. His clients benefit not only through Ted’s in-depth knowledge of the law, but also his unique understanding the inner working of DCPP and the courts that decide these cases.
